High Tensile / High Strength Steel (HSLA & Q+T)

Plate specified by minimum yield strength — typically 460 to 900 MPa — used to cut structural weight rather than to resist wear.

Designing by yield, not hardness

Replacing S355 with Stantuf 700 can remove 40-50% of the weight of a stressed member at equal capacity. The constraints move to buckling, fatigue detail class and deflection, so high strength plate pays best in bending-dominated, weight-critical structures: crane booms, tipper bodies, trailer chassis, boom sections.
