Ultrasonic Testing (EN 10160)

Volumetric examination of plate for internal discontinuities and lamination, classified in EN 10160 by body and edge quality class (e.g. S0/E0).

When it is specified

Plate that will be welded in thick, highly stressed joints — or armor plate where a lamination could initiate a through-crack on impact — is ordered with a stated body and edge class. The class is recorded on the 3.1 certificate.
